Playing with Purples

I’m having a bit of a play today, playing with purples.

Playing with PurplesTry mixing the colour for lavender or bluebells, or delphiniums. These are just three of the range of floral subjects which teeter on the brink of blue and purple.

And to make things more interesting the colours of these flowers will change according to the time of day, at least you don’t have to deal accutane with that in your painting!

There are so many fabulous shades varying from the blues through to the pinks. What a challenge.

On the left you can see a colour chart that I made to help out in such situations.

Below it is a painting I was having a play with, using a mixture of Ultramarine Blue and Rose Opera in various degrees.

It’s good to play.
