I decided that I was way overdue for a change of scene, so I booked myself a couple of nights in a hotel further down the coast.
Just an hour and a half drive away around the corner from Collioure rests a pretty bay where they are known for producing a rich red wine and a special vinegar.
The hotel ‘Le Catalan’ was positioned high up and as you can see from one of the photos I had a great view from my balcony. It was an easy walk down into the bay but a not so easy 200 step climb back up, especially in the heat. The staff were friendly and the restaurant evening meal was fabulous. A choice of two pools and plenty of room to spread out.
If you are inclined there is a Biodiversarium informing and entertaining. You can also go diving or buzz around on a jet ski as well as enjoying the variety of shops and boutiques lining the streets.
Restaurants are plentiful offering you a good selection of dishes with a lovely view across the bay. All well priced. I may well make a return visit later in the year.
